Together we went over the answers to the first practice Momentum Questions.

Friday is the test on Momentum.

It might be helpful to do the practice test in the SNAP book on pages 192-194. Here are the solutions:

Page 192

Page 192-193

Page 194

I also handed out another worksheet of practice Momentum Questions. Answers are on the sheet. We’ll work through any of the questions on either of the two sheets tomorrow morning.

Today we started the topic of STATIC EQUILIBRIUM

We looked at the 1st Condition of Static Equilibrium.

Monday July 17

Physics 12

We now begin the short topic of momentum. First we must review the material from Physics 11.

I assigned Pages 174 – 177 in the SNAP book. This reviews the ideas of Momentum and Impulse from Physics 11.

Page 174 – 175

Page 176 – 177

Monday is the Work and Energy Test. It might be good to try the Work and Energy Practice Test on Pages 167 – 169.

Here are the answers: Page 167  Page 167 – 169

I handed out a Worksheet with Practice Momentum Questions. Answers are on the worksheet.

Friday July 14

Physics 12

We began the day with the Dynamics Test. All your marks are on Schoology.

Then we looked at some “Conceptual” questions to deepen our understanding of work and energy.

Then I showed the “big” picture formulae to solve most energy problems. I suggest that you memorize the formulae… you will find it invaluable when writing tests.

The three videos that develop this formula are under the menu item Video Clips for Physics 12. (See Conservation of Energy Practice Situations Part One, Two, and Three.)

I handed out a packet of Government Exam Practice Questions and we looked at the answers in class.

Try the SNAP book questions p 164-165 for homework. Here are the answers:

Your test on energy will be on Tuesday.

Thursday July 13

Physics 12

Today we started with a Practice Worksheet that had a series of questions about a Block on Table.

Several people asked me about the answer to problem 8 on the Friction Worksheet. I tried the problem and got a different answer. Here is my solution:

Answer to friction problem 8

Your test on Dynamics will be tomorrow. It may be useful to try the Practice Test in the SNAP book on pages 128-130. Here are the answers:
